7MON are a strange noise creating duo from Australia that may be familiar to anyone who is graced with owning a copy of the OUT OF THE TREES compilation. They started in mid '85 and are a 2 piece with Skut/drums and Mick/guitar. It would be hard to describe them in relation to other bands but according to Mick...

"The only 'concept' we have is to totally make noise with our instruments, not caring about being H/C or whatever. Attitude is more important than ability - No fucking 'Slaves' to being a musician... shit!!! I think that a lot of people have forgotten the idea that anyone can be a Sex Pistol... Hope you understand!"

As for their lyrics -

"The lyrics are from heaps of info we read / see / hear... it's just our expression of the nausea in the world... just natural to us, a part of everyday life..."

They express and comment on the info in their lyrics - record the songs and that's it!
Mick Says...

"I think that 90% of people in Western countries can do this but most don't (with some sort of disposable (???) income')". When I first wrote to them they said that they don't do gigs anymore due to the bullshit involved so I enquired further... "About gigs?... no comment, the egos of people are pathetic... petty attitudes to be stars or to be more punk than anyone else... crap!!! - but hell - we do what we want, no way are we going to play to what people (fans??) want... we like our noise - and if others like it then it's a bonus!!!"

As far as recorded material goes, they've done a few tapes, an EP, a flexi and a split EP with a band called Anal Cunt, released by a German friend called Matthias...

"The first EP and split EP are sold out - I just heard he sold 800 of the split in 7 weeks so I guess it's gone now. The first EP was repressed and sold very fast - we are amazed at this!!!!... but the bottom line is that we can take it or leave it - Mattias is a great friend but we just like to do our music whether it is as a record or a tape... anyway, we are going to record about 900 tracks for a new record (EP) also done by Mattias!!! Not all 900 tracks will be on the EP... I did hear that Anal Cunt has done an EP with over 5000 tracks!!! - I haven't heard it yet, how is it possible??"

How about influences???

"We don't really have influences. We like a lot of bands but there are no favourites".

7MON are not a totally serious band but they never even consider their sound as a joke. They regard noise as being just as legitimate as classical music..
